BAD BOYS II
Puerto Rico Portion
Location in Puerto Rico
The art department of Bad Boys II, with Dominic Watkins, as Production Designer made a barren hillside of Orocovis, PR, a Cuban shanty town. The concept was to pay homage to a Jackie Chan film, in which a vehicle blasted through a village, going downhill. The Art Dept. consisted of two of us. There, I made a model of the hill which aided in mapping out, with specificity, the Land Rover's path.
The terrain was mowed down by hand, with machetes, roads were paved and off we went. 84 structures in all, not counting the above ground graves. I was instrumental in attaining aged building materials from a local, defunct Goya plant. Being trilingual payed off, yet again. It was a great experience and Michael Bay proudly blasted it to smithereens!
